Finding a good fab shop shouldn't be the hard part.
You've got parts to make, a machine to fix or a product to launch. Here's where it usually goes sideways:
"We'll get back to you."
You send a drawing, then wait. Then you call. Then you wait some more. A quote shouldn't take longer than the job.
Too small to matter
The big shops want thousand-piece orders. You need twelve brackets, or one weldment to get a line running again.
Parts that don't fit
Holes in the wrong spot, bends out of spec, welds you wouldn't trust. "Close enough" stops being funny once you're the one installing it.
An idea, no drawing
You know what you need, but you don't have a CAD file. Most shops won't touch a job until someone else engineers it.
Lead times that kill you
Downtime costs money. Being told "six to eight weeks" for a part you need this month doesn't help anybody.
Surprise invoices
The quote said one thing and the bill said another. Nobody likes mystery pricing.
That's exactly why TDS Fab exists. We answer the phone, give you a straight quote and build it right the first time, whether it's one part or a thousand.
Questions we hear a lot.
Don't see yours? Call the shop. It's usually faster than reading.
Send us a drawing or a photo. A fabricator replies the same or next business day.
Get a Free QuoteIs there a minimum order?
No. We'll make one part or a thousand. Small one-off jobs are a big part of what we do, and they're often how long-term customers start with us.
Do I need a finished drawing or CAD file?
No. A drawing or CAD file speeds things up, but our in-house engineering can work from a sketch, photos, measurements or the original part. If you've got an existing design that's hard or expensive to build, we can rework it so it's easier to manufacture.
What file types do you accept?
DXF and DWG are ideal for cut parts. STEP files, PDF drawings, photos and hand sketches all work too. If you're not sure, send what you have and we'll tell you if we need anything else.
How fast can I get a quote?
Most quotes go out within a business day or two. Simple cut parts are often faster. Complex projects that need engineering take a little longer, and we'll tell you up front when to expect it.
What are your lead times?
It depends on the job and how busy we are, but we'll give you a realistic date with your quote and then hit it. If your equipment is down, tell us. We do everything we can to get urgent repair work through fast.
How is pricing decided? Are you expensive?
Pricing depends on material, complexity, quantity and labor. Your quote spells it out clearly so there are no surprises on the invoice. We aim to be fair, not the cheapest or the priciest, and we'll often suggest design tweaks that bring the cost down.
Can you ship to me if I'm not in Oregon?
Yes. We package and palletize parts so they arrive clean, and ship with whatever you prefer, from UPS for small boxes to LTL freight for big orders. If you have your own freight account, we're happy to use it.
What materials and thicknesses can you work with?
Aluminum, carbon steel and stainless steel. Thickness limits depend on the process and the part, so send us your requirements and we'll tell you straight whether it's a fit. If it isn't, we'll say so instead of wasting your time.
Are you certified and insured?
Yes. Our welding is done by a certified welder, and the shop is fully insured. If your project needs specific paperwork, ask and we'll tell you what we can provide.
Will you keep my design confidential?
Absolutely. Your designs belong to you. We don't share customer drawings, and we're happy to sign an NDA before you send files.
Can you handle production runs, not just one-offs?
Yes. With CNC cutting and CNC forming, part 500 matches part 1. We can also kit, label and package production orders so they're ready for your line.
Do you still build truck accessories?
We sure do. Custom aluminum racks, storage systems, toolboxes and headache racks are part of our background, and we still love building them. We just build a lot more now too.
Big-shop capability. Small-shop attitude.
There are bigger shops out there, and some have fancier websites. Here's why people keep calling us anyway.
You talk to the guys doing the work
No phone tree and no account manager relaying messages. Call the shop and you're talking to a fabricator.
Straight answers
If something won't work, we'll tell you. If there's a cheaper or simpler way, we'll suggest it. If your idea is brilliant, we'll wish we'd thought of it.
Fair, honest pricing
You get a clear quote up front. We're not trying to be the most expensive shop around, just the one you trust.
No job too small
One bracket matters to us as much as a production run. Small jobs are often how long relationships start.
Built like we have to own it
Certified welding, measuring twice (then once more), and a final check on every job. "Close enough" doesn't leave this shop.
We actually hit dates
We give you a realistic timeline and stick to it. If something changes, you hear about it from us first.
Down the road or across the country.
